This Gemstone Dig Kit is a lot of fun for kids to "dig" through to uncover the  3 to 4 gemstones encased in the cleverly cast plaster that was made to look like an amethyst crystal. The set is nicely packaged and includes a glossy gemstone guide, activity book, plastic magnifying glass, metal digging tool, brush, and an Amethyst, Tigers Eye, and Quartz Crystal encased in a cool looking plaster "Gemstone".

 Make sure you have your kids to dig in an area because it will get a little dusty. My son spend a long time digging and chopping away and was really getting more and more excited as he dug. He rarely sits still for anything and this had his full attention .

This took about 30 to 45 minutes or so for my husband and my 4 year old to dig out all the gems.

 My son got so excited when he started finding the gemstones while digging. After the gemstones have been excavated rinse them off in water and they look very nice. Since this is likely to be the first experience with gemstones for many youngsters, they'll get a thrill from holding real gemstones in their hand.

 We are pleased with the kit. It was a relatively inexpensive way  for our family to get together and have a good time while learning a thing these gems.

I was so impressed with the activity guide and the information that was provided. It was certainly a fun educational toy .We were being extra careful to avoid chipping away too much at once using the brush to clear away dust so it didn't get dusty really at all.My son husband and i had a blast finding the rocks and crystal inside.
